Whether it is news, a discussion or a feature on a department's initiative the news team would like to share these reports with you.

We hope to build an online community of people who take a stake in Singapore's safety and security. This includes the Home Team's more than 220,000 members, national servicemen, volunteers and partners.

The internet magazine is not just about issues and polices. Check out profiles of our officers and peek into their life at work and outside of work with our lifestyle and community section.

Tracy Sua
Tracy was a journalist with Singapore Press Holdings for about eight years before joining the Public Service in 2010. She produced reports for The Straits Times TV/Channel I News, The Straits Times, The Straits Times.com and helped start up The Straits Times RazorTV as its news director.
Tan Chiez How
Prior to joining Home Team News, Chiez How was honing his craft in visual storytelling and journalistic acumen at ChannelNews Asia. The similar news environment and the opportunity to work with the various Home Team Agencies led him to join Home Team News. His leisure time is spent photographing his daughter and he hopes to publish a photography book of her growing-up years.
Charissa Tan
A graduate from NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communications, Charissa is a journalism and advertising major. She however prefers to call herself an international student, having learnt invaluable lessons and incurred wanderlust through her frequent travels throughout Europe, China and Asia. Next stop, Australia and Africa! She intends on becoming a polyglot… wish her luck!
Joanne Yan
Joanne is a public relations and advertising graduate from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communications and Information at NTU. Her interest in news and public relations has brought her to the Home Team as she feels that it is a unique and dynamic place where she can hone her writing skills and at the same time, be exposed to the challenges facing the Home Team. Her interests include wakeboarding and scuba diving. She hopes to improve her writing skills and take up underwater photography… perhaps do a dive travelogue someday.
Loh Jin Feng
Jin Feng graduated from SIM/RMIT’s Bachelor of Communication (Mass Communication) degree course with distinction. Other than reporting work, she helps Home Team News with the multimedia content, website and social media platforms. Jin Feng wants to share her discovery about the Ministry and the Home Team on this platform where journalism and multimedia converge. She aspires to be a communication and social media practitioner in the near future
Haikal Jamari
Be it the lifestyle features he reads or the Latin American telenovelas he watches, Haikal loves a good story. With two years’ previous experience in the pay-TV industry, this Civil Defence national serviceman thrives on the challenge of finding the most interesting angles to report the stories he is assigned to cover at Home Team News. His wishlist includes getting his driving license, master Spanish, and a scholarship for university.
Sidwyn Koh
Sidwyn is a national serviceman who is fascinated with technology. He currently helps Home Team News with photography, video and technical details. In his free time, he enjoys coding iPhone and iPad applications. He is also actively involved in technology startups and hopes to launch one of his own someday.
Matthew Wong
Matthew is a Civil Defence national serviceman with a passion and flair for photography and IT. He assists Home Team News with photography, videography and post-production. During his free time, he is always striving to improve himself in both his photography and IT skills by reading books in those areas.
Kenny Loh
A former writer with Female magazine, Kenny has traveled to Hong Kong and Beijing for journalistic assignments and interviewed some of the most influential people in the fashion industry - including ck Calvin Klein creative director Kevin Carrigan and film actress Gong Li. This Police national serviceman also enjoys the simple things in life - a good read, a glass of wine and a white oxford shirt. He's a fan of Japanese design and aspires to one day be an editor of a magazine.
Jessica Shen
A recent graduate from Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Chinese Media & Communication, Jessica is deeply fascinated by the crucial role that Public Relations plays in shaping public opinion. She aspires to pursue a career in this highly competitive and fast-paced industry and start her own PR firm someday. In her free time, the photography enthusiast enjoys travel, good food and liquor, as well as spending quality time with her two nephews.
Hazwani Mohamed
A third year student from Republic Polytechnic’s Communication and Information Design, Hazwani hopes to be the fearless reporter ‘Lois Lane’, equipped with excellent skills of interviewing and flawless reporting! Other than having an interest in writing and broadcast, she enjoys snuggling up in cold weather, watching movies and listening to old songs.
Shahidah Sayadi
Shahidah Sayadi is a final year Mass Communication student in the Film and Media Studies School in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. She has been interested in writing since her secondary school days. Her main motivation for joining the Film and Media Studies school is so that she can explore the different branches of the media industry. With this internship, she hopes to learn the ropes of journalism – more specifically photo and online journalism. She also hopes that this journey will be one filled with eye-openers and numerous opportunities.

Jason Lee
Jason joined the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in June 2010, after spending five years in journalism. He was a reporter with TODAY’s international desk and a Channel News Asia news producer. Jason graduated from the National University of Singapore where he majored in Political Science and Sociology.
Chong Yew Meng
Yew Meng is an experienced TV producer whose work writing and directing documentary and lifestyle programmes has taken him on adventures to India, Israel, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and all across Singapore. He helps Home Team News with videos, the web and social media. He enjoys telling stories on screen and wants to lend his creative talents to support a worthy cause.
Tan Yi Wen
Prior to joining MHA, Yi Wen was a Communication Studies graduate from NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, where she specialized in journalism and photojournalism. After running around the world during her school days and meeting people from the United States, Nepal, Bangladesh, Japan and China, she decided to join Home Team News to get a better sense of home. For leisure, she enjoys reading, poetry-writing, people-watching, playing table tennis and swimming.
Shahril Rosli
Shahril is a police national serviceman with a passion for design, photography and rugby. He helps Home Team News with graphics, photography and video production. Shahril is both a rugby player and a certified Level 1 Rugby coach by IRB (International Rugby Board). During his free time he loves watching rugby videos and looking for ways to promote and expand rugby in Singapore.
Mohammad Syafiq
Syafiq is a student from Singapore Polytechnic's Diploma in Media and Communications. He was an intern with Home Team News - and had an enjoyable time there! He loves chocolate drinks topped with whipped cream. Besides that, he likes being surrounded by books!
Jeraldine Phneah
Jeraldine is a first year communications and public administration student at NTU. She was previously involved as a Marketing Assistant for MINI and PR Intern at a MNC working on the accounts of Tiger Beer, Heineken and Asia Fashion Exchange 2010.
Ang Meng Hui
Meng Hui is currently a student at Nanyang Technological University and under an internship with the news team at MSU. He majors in English Literature and Communication Studies, and loves to see what he can do with words. He enjoys being with MSU because for him, this is where he can see the many different aspects of Home Team, an experience that he seeks to obtain with the internship.
Neeta Nelson
Neeta Nelson is a first year Literature and Creative Writing student from the University of Surrey, UK. Having previously worked for the Singapore Indian Development Association with their Career Development Centre, she enjoys interacting with people from all walks of life. This combined with her passion for writing has allowed for her time as an intern with MSU to be an eye-opening experience.
Abigail Chua Si Yi
A final year student of Republic Polytechnic's Communication and Information Design course, Abigail has always found tidbits of knowledge fascinating and constantly aims to find anything and everything that is new to add on to her own database also known as her mind. Equipped with an imaginary world where anything can happen, she embraces cultures and languages with a wish that she could learn as much as possible. Maybe one day she'll finally write the novel she's always wanted to with the skills that this internship will be teaching her!
Chen Shuyi
A final-year student from Ngee Ann Polytechnic's Mass Communication, Shuyi has always been keen on learning and sharing stories - be it through writing, broadcast, photography or graphics design. So it is no wonder why she is thrilled to be interning at the Home Team News where she can fulfill her interests. Her dream? To travel around the world and discover hidden stories, places and people.
Yuvaraj Uthaman
Yuvaraj is a final year student in Singapore Polytechnic’s Diploma in Media and Communication. He hopes to learn the art of being a good reporter through his internship with Home Team News. Football, Acting, Music and spending time with his loved ones are the main things that make his world go round. Yuvaraj also believes that passion is the key to success in life.
Zul Hazmi Nordin
Hazmi is a final-year Media and Communication student from Singapore Polytechnic. He is keen to experience the life of a reporter through Home Team News, and hopes to master the art of interviewing and writing good news articles by the end of his internship. He enjoys playing football, video games and watching movies for leisure.
